Why did you get dreadlocks?

Jun 09, 2016
  • Hi All dreadheads! Today I want to ask you a question: Why did you get dreadlocks done?
Also do you have any suggestions for someone that is debating weather they should get dreadlocks done or not.
  • joshy_knaufDreads are a Lifestyle...i love My Dreads ❀😊 For me it's nature,freedome,love and peace haha ❀🌴 #hippie

  • hanutadakathaHmmm good question... i feel i need dreads and they help me to found my way! 🌱 i love my dreads πŸ’œ
  • avocaddessNo brushes! Juat wake up doing whatever I want! #WildLioness
  • freespirited_mamaI've always loved the look of dreads on others and always wanted to give them a try but I was trapped and letting others rule my life they said I couldn't do it, until one day I found my voice then I found myself, getting dreads was the first big change I made to discovering my true self and it has been the greatest adventure of all βœŒπŸΌοΈπŸ’œ my suggestion for anyone considering dreads is to go for it you can always start small by doing a few and go up from there and they can always be brushed out if you have a change of heart 😘
  • seek3r__of__truthIn all honesty, initially it was to go against the grain of what society viewed as socially acceptable.
  • marian8628Culture, rastafari I&I i love my dreads me las hice por el solo hecho de afrontar el que diran y vivir en libertad como a mi me gusta.Amo esta cultura y este estilo de vida

  • hxtelbooksThey make me feel like me and make me proud to be who i am🌻 feel so much more confident and peaceful and i love the culture✌and for someone wanting to get dreads i would reccomend to add them in gradually over time and then you wont be able to stop until your whole head is dreaded🌲🌞
  • iamsusannacaritaHey,this is good start!I am planning to have dreadlocks! The only problem I seem to have is that its so expensive here in Finland. And why I want?I have finally found myself and I dare to do what I want without other peoples approval!Let the love rule✨✨✨✨
  • hannahmbmStory of Samson and his seven locks☺ just trying to keep all my energyπŸŒΌβ˜€
  • yessa269I got tired of relaxing my hair, go to the salon every weekend to get it straight. Sometimes wanna get rid of it but they look so damn great when I get them done :-D:O♧♣♧♣
  • me_shot_isabelFriends told me I could rock them and so I tried it and fell in love with the process, the international community, and I had so much fun figuring out what styles I could do with my locks! Loved having them and miss them every day. ❀️
  • thesoulfulsunI got my dreadlocks as a symbol of my commitment to clean up my life in many different ways. From my eating habits to body positivity to spirituality. They are my roots. An extension of my mind and life. They hold my happiness and my deep thoughts of life.
  • menguinmarieI tried twice to do them and failed miserably and don't know any places that would do them for me, plus I don't know if nurses are allowed to have them 😞
  • menguinmarie@trippingontrees I love that πŸ’›
  • thesoulfulsun@menguinmarie Thank you!! And I'd like you to know that in forming your dreads, there is no failing! They make their own shape and that is the beauty of them!!
  • idratherbecamping00@menguinmarie I'm a nurse and I have dreads. I just made sure and checked the policy at the hospital before I made full head commitment. And, I did my dreads just because I wanted to. I would love to tell a great story of becoming more natural and spiritual, but I can't. Truth is, I've always wanted them and I guess I just finally became the girl that does what she wants!πŸ€—
  • dread.em.up_beirutJust like trees have their roots, dreads are our roots πŸ’™ they connect us to our wild side, and establish a deep and pure connection with the flow of mother nature ! πŸƒπŸŒΌπŸŒœ
  • icosahedritefreedom from vanity!!!! ❀❀❀ @dreadstuff_com

  • seienstyle@menguinmarie have you checked the dreadlock makers list on our site you might find some one close to you. I know alot of people in the medical industri that have dreadlocks 😊
  • lunar.lionFor some reason they have built up my confidence in myself, which I am very happy about. And I like that I can get creative & decorate them! It's a very fun & exciting journey. πŸ’œ
  • psylosophyI got them mainly because I love how they look! Two beautiful dreadhead friends inspired me to go for it. But also because I have always hated to fix my hair every day. I wear no makeup and want to be able to go out just the way I am, not perfect, just human, so for me dreads are perfect!
  • psylosophyAnd for those thinking about getting them done: Do it! Be brave and try all the things you want to try in life! If you dont like them, then you can laugh about how silly you looked later and you will always have been brave enough to have tried! :)
  • dreadi1020yogiI got mine because I've always loved being different. They show my courage, nonchalant self, beauty, and fun character. Before, my hair was reaaally long and now I don't have to comb it! Score! 😁❀ They make me feel more like me.
  • connyartThey look nice
  • jahnapierceI was in a place in life where I knew I needed I spiritual adventure. I've had them for a year and am still working on the spiritual-ness and loving every minute of it. Icing on the cake: they fit my odd personality and I love not having to brush my hair.
  • theclearscientistBecause I'm lazy
  • midget_mick_zaragozaSeriously look at us all do you need to ask , obviously it makes you look cool as
  • jassijo.yogabearI have wanted locks for so long. I was trying fiercely to "fit in" with curly hair, too curly and then straightening it to calm it down. I was finally ready to be me and it felt like overcoming a great fear. It was so much more that doing it. I am now ME. For the first time genuinely stepping out equally as fierce, as ME. πŸ™πŸΌβœŒπŸ½οΈπŸ¦„πŸŒΈ Have courage to be You no matter what!!!
  • taylorzoilsI'm going to try and make this short + sweet. A girl showed up to work one day several years ago with her hair long and dreaded. She was gorgeous! After that, I was always interested. However, this past year I found myself on a new journey in becoming a single mom to my newborn lady. I knew my body would be in a place where I would definitely feel like a total mess. So after months of research and a long 3 days of l+d. the day after she was born, I let my own mess begin :) my dreads and my daughter now share the same birthday.
  • m_ladharaBecause of my religion JAH RASTAFARI XD
  • yeahdylEvery time I get asked this I answer with a simple question. "Why do you wear your hair the way you do?"
  • brandy.nicholeMy hair was too curly n too long couldn't do anything wit my hair but put it in a bun after 3 months of research and talkin to my dreaddie friend i decided to go on my dread journey.. Its only been 4 months but i can say its the best choice ive made!! 😍
  • dreadlocksfaqWanted the look, and got a whole journey of self-love in addition to the look i loved😊
  • dma_dillerI always liked them and wanted them, but for one reason or another never started them, until one day I was like I'm gonna do it and I did :) I've been growing for 4 years now but locking for just 1.
