With the Seienstyle Process, I create dreadlocks directly from your own hair using a method I have developed and refined over more than 26 years.
This technique is designed to work with a wide range of hair types, including:
- Fine Scandinavian hair

Rather than stressing the hair or creating unnecessary tension on the scalp, I focus on shaping the dreadlocks in a way that allows them to mature naturally over time.

How the Seienstyle Process Works
For over 26 years, I have worked daily with dreadlocks. Through extensive training and thousands of hours of hands-on experience, I have developed my own method â designed to create dreadlocks that both mature quickly and look beautiful from the moment you leave the salon.
The Seienstyle Process â A Holistic Way to Create Your Dream Dreadlocks
I offer two variations of the Seienstyle Process when creating dreadlocks using your own hair.
The Foundation Method
The foundation of the Seienstyle Process begins by attaching a fine synthetic thread at the root. From there, each dreadlock is carefully formed using a combination of backcombing and a unique crochet technique to create the shape and structure you desire.
This method works on all hair types, including:
- Fine Scandinavian hair
- Asian hair
- European hair
- Latin hair
- Afro-textured hair
Alternative Method (Without Thread)
If you prefer not to have a thread at the root, there is an alternative method.
In this version, a small amount of loose hair is integrated and crocheted into your natural hair. This helps your dreadlocks:
- Hold their shape more effectively
- Mature faster
- Gain a natural weight
The added weight also helps prevent the dreadlocks from sticking out too much in the beginning.
Do Dreadlocks Stick Out at First?
Itâs completely normal for new dreadlocks to stand out slightly at the beginning.
If you would like to avoid this entirely, I recommend choosing dreadlocks with extensions, which create a more settled look from day one.
How Long Should Your Hair Be?
For the most comfortable and aesthetically balanced result from the start, I recommend having at least shoulder-length hair.
If your hair is at least 10 cm long, it is still possible to create dreadlocks â in this case, I recommend choosing dreadlocks with extensions.
Please note:
With the Seienstyle Process, your hair will typically become 25â30% shorter once the dreadlocks are created.
How Long Does It Take?
The process usually takes 4â6 hours, depending on the thickness and length of your hair.
How to Care for Your Dreadlocks
- You can wash your dreadlocks 1â2 times per week, starting two weeks after installation, using a dreadlock shampoo
- To maintain a smooth and even look, gently roll your dreadlocks between your palms once a week to support the maturation process
You will also receive a care guide to take home, with everything you need to confidently maintain your dreadlocks.
