How does it work?
I have worked professionally with dreadlocks for over 26 years, and I now work from my salon in Provence, France. During that time, I developed my own method â the Seienstyle Process.
Through thousands of hours working with different hair types, I have refined a technique that creates dreadlocks that are durable, comfortable, and aesthetically beautiful.
The method is designed so that your dreadlocks:

There is no right or wrong â the goal is always to create dreadlocks that feel right for you.
Designing your micro dreadlocks
Once we have talked through your vision, I begin designing how your dreadlocks will be created.
Together we decide:
âą how thin the dreadlocks should be
âą how many dreadlocks you want
âą how the sections of the hair should be placed
âą whether the ends should be loose or fully dreaded
âą whether we will use extensions
Micro dreadlocks mean that each dreadlock is thinner than traditional dreadlocks, which creates a softer and more natural movement in the hair.

The creation process
When the work begins, the hair is divided into carefully planned sections.
I then create each dreadlock individually using my Seienstyle Process technique.
This is a craft where every dreadlock is shaped by hand, here in my salon in Provence, France.

Micro dreadlocks on your own hair
Here we create thin dreadlocks directly in your natural hair.
This is ideal if you want your own hair to develop into dreadlocks and follow the process from the beginning.
Over time, the dreadlocks will mature and develop their own unique character.
Micro dreadlocks with extensions
If you would like longer or fuller dreadlocks immediately, we can use extensions made from real human hair.
The extensions are integrated into the dreadlocks so they look as natural as possible.
This can be a good option if:

âą you want more length right away
âą you want to create a fuller hairstyle
Synthetic dreadlocks
If you want to try dreadlocks without making a permanent change, synthetic dreadlocks can be braided into your hair.
This is a temporary option where the dreadlocks usually stay in for a few weeks before being removed.

When dreadlocks are first created, they begin as new or âstarter locs.â Over time, the hair continues to lock and become more compact.
For many people, it takes around 6â12 months for dreadlocks to properly mature, but this can vary depending on hair type and how they are maintained. The Seienstyle Process is designed to help your dreadlocks begin maturing after about 2â3 months, so your dreadlocks will start looking more defined sooner when your micro locs are created using the Seienstyle Process.

Yes, if you have come to me, Ann-Marie at Seienstyle, to have your micro dreadlocks created and you have not done any chemical treatments on your hair afterward (coloring, bleaching, perming, or toning), it is possible to comb out micro dreadlocks. However, it is a time-consuming process and depends on how long you have had them. You do not need to shave your hair to remove them.
I also have tips for several different hairstyles with hair extensions that you can try if you want to remove your micro dreadlocks but do not want to comb them out and do not want short hair.
The older and more mature the dreadlocks are, the more work is required to remove them.
Most people need maintenance about 1â4 times per year, but this varies depending on how fast your hair grows.
During a maintenance appointment:
âą dreadlocks are separated at the roots
âą new hair growth is integrated into the dreadlocks
âą the shape of the dreadlocks is improved
