The class I wish I could have taken

In 1996, when I was a teenager in Fagersta, a small town in Sweden, I would have given almost anything for a dreadlock class. A friend and I wanted dreadlocks so badly that we went to the library, found almost nothing, and tried to figure it out on our own. The result was not beautiful.

There were no classes. No teacher, no course, no one to ask. I learned through years of trial and error, including a technique that made my hands bleed. It took me a very long time to find a way of working that was gentle on my body, my clients and the hair.

My name is Ann-Marie Christell, and today I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years. I have trained more than a hundred locticians in many countries. Every class I teach is, in a way, the class I wish someone had offered me.

If you want to become a loctician online: The Professional Loctician Online Course

This is my complete online class in the Seienstyle process. It takes you step by step from your first practice on a mannequin head, through dreadlocks with extensions and maintenance, to working with real clients. It also covers the parts of the work most classes skip: your body, your posture, being present with clients and building a practice.

What makes it different from most online classes is that you are not learning alone. Every student has one-on-one video coaching calls with me, where I see your work and guide you, and you join The Professional Loctician community.

If you learn best side by side: in-person loctician classes

My in-person class is a two-day, one-on-one training. It is just you and me, working side by side on live hair models, so I can guide your hands in the moment and shape everything around your level and goals.

It begins with a video call to see whether we are a good match, includes lifetime access to the online course, and continues with coaching calls afterwards. You can come to me in Stockholm, or I can travel to you in cities across Europe, and I am also open to teaching in the USA and Australia.

If you already work as a loctician: the advanced class

If you already make dreadlocks professionally, I offer a more advanced version of the course with one-on-one coaching. It focuses on what experienced locticians most often struggle with: pain in the body, speed and confidence, marketing and the systems that keep a business running smoothly.

Many experienced locticians come to me with aching hands or shoulders. I know that pain well. Changing the way I worked is the reason I am still doing this, without pain, 26 years later.

If you love colour and play: synthetic dreadlocks and mermaid hair

Synthetic dreadlocks and soft, curly mermaid hair are creative, colourful and temporary. They welcome clients who want to try the look, change their style often or play with length and colour.

My Synthetic Dreadlock and Mermaid Hair Specialist Online Course teaches you how to create, install and take them out in a way that is beautiful and kind to the hair underneath. I also teach this in person, one-on-one.

If you want to care for your own dreadlocks

Some people searching for dreadlock classes do not want to become locticians at all. They want to learn to look after their own dreadlocks, or even make their own with extensions, with someone guiding them.

For that, I offer one-on-one video coaching where you learn with your own hair and your own hands, at home.

And every class carries the same belief: this work is not only about hair. When someone sits in a loctician's chair for a whole day, they are often stepping into a version of themselves they have pictured for years. As a breathwork and meditation teacher, I weave that inner side of the work into everything I teach.

Which class should I start with? If you are unsure whether this path is for you, start with the free training. If you know you want to become a loctician, choose the online course or the in-person class depending on how you learn best.

Do I need experience? No. Every class meets you where you are.

Are your classes in groups? My in-person classes are one-on-one. The online course is self-paced, with one-on-one coaching calls.

Can I pay in instalments? Payment plans are available for several classes. Ask me what is possible for the class you are interested in.
