From Allergic Hairdresser to Thriving Loctician: Veraโs Journey with Panda Locks
Mar 30, 2026There are moments in life when everything seems to fall apart… only to guide you toward something even more aligned.
This is exactly what happened to Vera, a loctician from Finland and the founder of Panda Locks.
Her journey is not just about learning how to create dreadlocks — it’s about rediscovering creativity, finding purpose, and helping others reconnect with themselves.
When Passion Meets Challenge
Vera originally trained as a hairdresser. Like so many in the industry, she loved working with hair and expressing her creativity.
But after only a short time, her body started reacting.
The chemicals used in traditional hairdressing caused allergic reactions that made it impossible for her to continue.
She had no choice but to stop.
And just like that, the career she loved was gone.
Discovering a New Path
Even though she stepped away from hairdressing, the desire to create never left her.
That spark was still there — quietly waiting.
Then one day, everything shifted.
A conversation introduced her to the idea of creating dreadlocks without chemicals. Just natural techniques using a hook and thread.
That’s when she found The Seienstyle Process.
“Wait a second… I can still work with hair — but in a completely different way.”
That realization changed everything.
Falling in Love with Dreadlocks
Interestingly, Vera didn’t always feel drawn to dreadlocks.
At first, she had a very different perception…
She thought they would feel heavy, maybe even masculine.
But then she saw a friend who had them done — and everything changed.
“It was mind-blowing. I couldn’t believe how feminine and beautiful they looked.”
Soon after, she booked her own appointment.
Instead of doing a full head, she started slowly — one row at a time.
That gentle approach allowed her to truly feel into the process, to explore the transformation step by step.
And like many clients discover…
One row quickly became more.
More Than Just Hair
As Vera began working with dreadlocks — both on herself and her clients — she noticed something deeper.
Dreadlocks weren’t just a hairstyle.
They were a transformation.
“You get more than just hair… you get something else.”
She describes dreadlocks as “power hair.”
Because something shifts.
Clients often arrive feeling unsure, a little closed, maybe even disconnected from themselves.
But after the transformation?
They stand differently.
They shine.
They feel seen.
“It’s like the real person inside comes to the outside.”
And that is where the magic happens.
Building Panda Locks
After completing the course, Vera started her business from home.
But she quickly realized she wanted something more — a space of her own.
Today, her studio is uniquely located near a train station in Finland.
It’s a thoughtful choice, as many of her clients travel long distances to see her.
“They arrive by train… and then it’s just one door, and they’re here.”
Her brand, Panda Locks, is deeply personal.
The panda has followed her throughout her life — a symbol that naturally became part of her business identity.
Creating Her Own Products
Vera’s journey didn’t stop at services.
After a year of ordering products from different countries, she had a new thought:
“Why can’t I create my own?”
What started in her kitchen — experimenting and testing — evolved into a two-year journey of developing her own dreadlock care line.
Now, she has created:
- A rose water-based salt spray with bamboo extract
- A gentle dreadlock shampoo designed to cleanse without drying
And she’s just getting started.
The Reality of Working as a Loctician
Vera also shares an important truth that many don’t talk about.
This work is deeply personal.
As a loctician, you spend hours close to your clients — often within their personal space.
This creates a unique environment where people naturally open up.
Conversations become deeper.
Connections become stronger.
For the right person, this is incredibly meaningful.
But it’s also something to be aware of.
“It’s very intense… but also very rewarding.”
A Message About Courage
If there’s one thing Vera emphasizes, it’s this:
Be brave.
Even when something feels uncomfortable.
Even when your English isn’t perfect.
Even when you feel nervous.
Because growth happens in those moments.
“If you want to succeed, you have to push yourself.”
And through that courage…
You discover new possibilities.
A New Beginning Is Always Possible
Vera’s story is a reminder that losing one path doesn’t mean losing your purpose.
Sometimes, it’s simply guiding you toward something better.
Something more aligned.
Something that allows you to create, connect, and truly make a difference.
โจ If you’ve been feeling called to work more naturally, creatively, and meaningfully with hair… this might be your sign.
