Loctician Training in Alaska: Hands-On Dreadlock Training With the Seienstyle Process
Mar 25, 2023By Ann-Marie Christell, Seienstyle
A northern beginning
I grew up in Fagersta, a small town in Sweden, where the seasons shape everything. Long dark winters, light summer nights, and a rhythm of life that follows the year. I think that is part of why, years later, I chose to move to Provence and live slowly, close to nature, with the cycles of the seasons.
My name is Ann-Marie Christell, and I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years. When I think of Alaska, I think of that same deep relationship with nature. Mountains, glaciers, forests, water and light that changes completely through the year.
If you live in Alaska and feel drawn to becoming a loctician, I would love to tell you about my in-person training, and how I can come to you.
Why Alaska
Alaska is vast, and the distances are real. For many people in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau and the smaller communities in between, finding a skilled loctician nearby is not easy. That is exactly why a well-trained loctician can make such a difference there.
The people who live in Alaska often choose a life that is close to the land and a little outside the ordinary. Many of them have dreamed of dreadlocks for years. When they finally sit down in a loctician's chair, they are stepping into a version of themselves they have pictured for a long time.
I come to you
The Professional Loctician In-Person Training is a two-day, one-on-one training. Instead of you travelling far to learn, I travel to you in Alaska, and we work side by side on live hair models.
You choose which services you most want to master before we meet. The options include dreadlocks on natural hair, dreadlocks with extensions, maintenance, mermaid dreadlocks, synthetic dreadlocks and more. Whether you are just starting or already work with hair, the training is shaped around you.
A method that respects the hair and the body
The Seienstyle process is holistic, inclusive across every hair texture and completely product-free. There is no wax, no gel and nothing to wash out. Its gentle crochet technique protects your hands and your client's scalp, and dreadlocks begin to mature within two to three months.
We also talk about the slower side of this work. How to look after your body and your nervous system through long appointments. How to be present with clients when they open up. And how to build a practice whose rhythm fits your life and the seasons you live by.
Support that reaches you anywhere
Before the training, we meet on a one-on-one video call. Afterwards, you continue with coaching calls and join the Seienstyle community of locticians around the world. You also keep lifetime access to The Professional Loctician Online Course. Wherever you are in Alaska, you are not on your own.
So, is in-person loctician training in Alaska right for you?
It may be, if you want to learn this craft with personal guidance, without leaving home. If you value a slow, holistic, product-free way of working. And if you want to build a practice that can last for decades.
