Loctician Training in Arizona: Hands-On Dreadlock Training With the Seienstyle Process

The client who cried in my chair
More than twenty years ago, a young woman sat down in my chair for her first dreadlocks. By the first dreadlock, she was talking about her marriage ending. By the third, she was crying. By the sixth, she was telling me things she had not told her closest friends.
I did not know what to do. I tried to comfort her and offer advice. I felt overwhelmed and underqualified, and when she left, I sat in my empty salon and cried too, because I had been carrying something I did not have the skills to carry.
My name is Ann-Marie Christell. I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years, and that day taught me something no technique course ever had. This work is not really about hair. The hair is the doorway. What people walk through that doorway to find is something much deeper.
Why I became a breathwork and meditation teacher
After years of absorbing my clients' grief and worry, and after a period of burnout that almost ended my career, I went and got formal training in breathwork and meditation. I did it for myself at first. I needed real tools to process what I was holding.
Over time, I realised these practices belonged in my salon too. Breathwork taught me how to stay grounded when something heavy enters the room. Meditation taught me how to listen without rehearsing my answer, and how to let silence do its work.
Today, this inner side of the craft is woven into everything I teach. Not as a separate workshop, but as part of how you learn to be a loctician.
Why Arizona
Arizona is a land of desert light, red rock and vast skies. Places like Sedona have long drawn people searching for stillness, healing and a deeper connection with themselves, and from Phoenix and Tucson to Flagstaff, many people are looking for work and a way of life that feels meaningful.
If you live in Arizona, you may already be one of those people. Perhaps you have a background in yoga, energy work, massage or another healing practice. Perhaps you simply know that you want to do something with your hands that also touches people's lives. Becoming a loctician can be exactly that.
The people who sit in your chair have often dreamed of their dreadlocks for years. When you understand that you are holding space for a person at a threshold in their life, the work becomes something you can do with your whole self.
What you learn in two days together
The Professional Loctician In-Person Training is a two-day, one-on-one training. I travel to you, wherever you are in Arizona, and we work side by side on live hair models.
You learn the Seienstyle process, the holistic method I have built over more than two decades. It is inclusive across every hair texture, so you never need to turn anyone away. It is clean and product-free, with no wax, no gel and no residue. It uses a gentle crochet technique that protects your hands and your client's scalp. And because it works with the hair's natural intelligence, dreadlocks begin to mature within two to three months, without the long awkward stage.
Before we meet, you choose which services matter most to you. The options include dreadlocks on natural hair, dreadlocks with extensions, dreadlock maintenance, mermaid dreadlocks, synthetic dreadlocks and several others. Then the training is shaped around you.
Learning to be present
Alongside the technique, we practise the inner skills. How to be truly present with someone for a whole day. How to listen without fixing. How to hold silence without rushing to fill it. How to feel what is in the room without absorbing it. And how to hold clear, kind boundaries so your work stays sustainable.
None of these are fixed traits. They are skills, and like any skill, they grow with practice. Many of my students tell me this is the part of the training that changed the most for them, in their work and in their lives.
A body and a practice that last
We also look after your body. The right tools, the right furniture and good posture are part of the Seienstyle process, because this work asks a lot physically. And we talk about building your practice: sharing your work, attracting the clients you want and charging what your work is worth.
Ongoing support
Before our two days together, we meet on a one-on-one video call. Afterwards, you continue with coaching calls and join the Seienstyle community of locticians around the world. You also receive lifetime access to The Professional Loctician Online Course, so the whole method is always there for you.
So, is in-person loctician training in Arizona right for you?
It may be, if you are drawn to work that is both creative and deeply human. If you want to learn a gentle, product-free method that works on every hair texture. And if you want a teacher who will help you hold space for others without losing yourself.
