A city of many textures

Auckland is home to people from across the Pacific and all over the world. In a single day, a loctician here might work with fine, straight hair, thick waves, loose curls and tight coils. Each one behaves differently, and each one deserves to be treated with skill.

My name is Ann-Marie Christell, and I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years. I spent years studying how every kind of hair locks, because I never wanted to tell anyone that their hair was not right for dreadlocks. The Seienstyle process is the result: a method that works on any hair that walks through your door.

Why Auckland

Auckland is New Zealand's largest city, spread between two harbours, with volcanic hills, beaches and islands all around. From Ponsonby and Grey Lynn to Mount Albert, the North Shore and South Auckland, it is full of creativity, culture and people of every background.

There are so many people in Auckland who have been dreaming of their dreadlocks for years. A loctician who can say yes to every one of them has a lot to offer.

What our two days together look like

Before we meet, we have a one-on-one video call to understand your experience and agree on your focus. You choose from dreadlocks on natural hair, dreadlocks with extensions, maintenance, mermaid dreadlocks, synthetic dreadlocks and more.

Then I come to you in Auckland, and we work side by side on live hair models for two days. I show you how to read different textures and adjust your approach to each, while guiding your hands, posture and pace.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need hairdressing experience? No. The training is one-on-one, so it is shaped around where you are.

Does the method use products? No. The Seienstyle process is completely product-free, and dreadlocks begin to mature within two to three months, without the awkward stage.

Is it gentle on my hands and my clients? Yes. The small, controlled crochet motion protects your hands, and clients leave without a sore scalp.

What support do I get afterwards? Coaching calls, the Seienstyle community, and lifetime access to The Professional Loctician Online Course.

So, is in-person loctician training in Auckland right for you?

It may be, if you want to welcome every hair texture with confidence and learn a gentle, product-free method with personal guidance.
