Loctician Training in Boston: Hands-On Dreadlock Training With the Seienstyle Process
Oct 17, 2023By Ann-Marie Christell, Seienstyle
What training is, and what it is not
I want to be honest about what any training, including mine, can give you. A good training gives you a clear structure, a teacher who can see your work and correct it before bad habits set in, and a community of people walking the same path.
What it cannot give you is a magic shortcut. You will still need to practise. You will still need to put in hours on hair models. You will still grow into your own voice as a loctician over time.
My name is Ann-Marie Christell, and I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years. What I can offer is the right foundation and the clearest path I know. The rest is yours to build.
Why Boston
Boston is a city of learning and curiosity, home to universities, historic neighbourhoods and a strong creative community, from Jamaica Plain and the South End to Dorchester, Somerville and Cambridge across the river. People here tend to care about doing things properly.
There are many people in and around Boston who have been dreaming of their dreadlocks for years. They deserve a loctician who has learned this craft with care and continues to grow in it.
What our two days together look like
Before we meet, we have a one-on-one video call, so I know you have understood the foundations and have had time to practise. You choose your focus from dreadlocks on natural hair, dreadlocks with extensions, maintenance, mermaid dreadlocks, synthetic dreadlocks and more.
Then I come to you in Boston, and we work side by side on live hair models for two days. I explain the reasoning behind each step, so you understand the method deeply enough to keep improving on your own long after we part.
Frequently asked questions
How much practice will I need afterwards? It varies. Most people need many hours on hair models before they feel truly confident. The learning comes in waves, with setbacks and breakthroughs, and that is normal.
What makes the Seienstyle process worth learning? It works on every hair texture, uses no products, is gentle on your hands and your client's scalp, and helps dreadlocks begin to mature within two to three months.
Can I combine in-person and online learning? Yes. The in-person training includes lifetime access to The Professional Loctician Online Course, so you have the full method to return to.
What support continues afterwards? Coaching calls and the Seienstyle community of locticians around the world.
So, is in-person loctician training in Boston right for you?
It may be, if you want an honest, solid foundation in this craft and are ready to keep practising and growing.
