Light dreadlocks for warm, humid days

In a subtropical climate, hair needs to breathe. Dreadlocks made with wax or heavy products hold on to heat, moisture and dust, and can start to feel heavy and sticky on the scalp. They can also be hard to dry properly after a swim or a summer storm.

My name is Ann-Marie Christell, and I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years. In the Seienstyle process, we use no products at all. Each dreadlock is built as a stable structure with air inside it, so it stays light, dries more easily and keeps maturing beautifully.

Why Brisbane

Brisbane is a relaxed, sunny river city, from South Bank and West End to Fortitude Valley, New Farm and the growing suburbs, with the beaches of the Sunshine and Gold Coasts close by. Many people live outdoors much of the year.

What our two days together look like

Before we meet, we have a one-on-one video call to understand your experience and agree on your focus. You choose from dreadlocks on natural hair, dreadlocks with extensions, maintenance, mermaid dreadlocks, synthetic dreadlocks and more.

Then I come to you in Brisbane, and we work side by side on live hair models for two days. Alongside the technique, we practise the inner side of the work. A dreadlock appointment can last eight to twelve hours, and clients often open up. As a breathwork and meditation teacher, I help you stay present and grounded through it all.
