Coming back, and building better

Some years ago, I burned out. I had built so much and was holding so much that something in me simply stopped. I kept doing hair, but quietly, and almost let the business I had spent two decades building fall apart.

Coming back took years. But I did not rebuild what I had before. I built something slower, more private and more sustainable, with everything I had learned the hard way woven into it.

My name is Ann-Marie Christell, and I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years. I think Christchurch understands what it means to rebuild, and to build better than before.

Why Christchurch

Christchurch is the largest city in the South Island, a place of parks, gardens and the Avon River, with the Port Hills, Banks Peninsula and the Southern Alps within reach. It is a city that has rebuilt itself with creativity and care.

There are many people in Christchurch and Canterbury who have been dreaming of their dreadlocks for years. They deserve a loctician who will still be there for them years from now.

What our two days together look like

Before we meet, we have a one-on-one video call to understand your experience and agree on your focus. You choose from dreadlocks on natural hair, dreadlocks with extensions, maintenance, mermaid dreadlocks, synthetic dreadlocks and more.

Then I come to you in Christchurch, and we work side by side on live hair models for two days. Alongside the technique, we talk about the structure that keeps this work sustainable: your rhythm, your rest, your boundaries and your prices.

Frequently asked questions

How do I avoid burning out as a loctician? By treating your body, your nervous system and your rhythm as part of the work. We talk through this in detail.

What is the Seienstyle process? A holistic, product-free method that works on every hair texture, is gentle on your hands and your client's scalp, and helps dreadlocks begin to mature within two to three months.

Do I need experience? No. The training is one-on-one and shaped around where you are.

What support do I get afterwards? Coaching calls, the Seienstyle community, and lifetime access to The Professional Loctician Online Course.

So, is in-person loctician training in Christchurch right for you?

It may be, if you want to learn a gentle craft and build a practice designed to last.
