Build for year ten, not year one

One of the most important things I tell new locticians is this. Do not build a practice for who you are in your first year. Build a practice for who you want to be in your tenth.

My name is Ann-Marie Christell, and I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years. I learned this the hard way. For a long time, I ran a busy, open salon that slowly wore me out. Eventually I had to take it apart and rebuild something slower, more private and much more aligned with who I am. It worked, but it took years.

If you live in Connecticut and dream of becoming a loctician, I want to help you start with that clarity from day one.

Why Connecticut

Connecticut has a wonderful mix of small towns, coastline, wooded hills and cities like Hartford, New Haven and Stamford, all within reach of New York. It is a place where you can build a calm, private practice, perhaps in your home or a small studio, while still being close to many people who have been dreaming of their dreadlocks for years.

Clients will often travel a little further to find a loctician they trust. A practice built on care, skill and a peaceful space can grow beautifully through word of mouth.

What we cover together

The Professional Loctician In-Person Training is a two-day, one-on-one training. I travel to you, wherever you are in Connecticut, and we work side by side on live hair models.

You choose your focus before we meet. The options include dreadlocks on natural hair, dreadlocks with extensions, maintenance, mermaid dreadlocks, synthetic dreadlocks and more. Alongside the hands-on work, we talk about the shape of your practice: your hours, your space, your boundaries, and how to charge what your work is truly worth.

The Seienstyle process

The method you learn is holistic and inclusive across every hair texture. It uses no products at all. Its gentle crochet technique protects your hands and your client's scalp, and because it works with the hair's natural intelligence, dreadlocks begin to mature within two to three months.

We also talk about the inner side of the work. Long appointments invite people to open up, and as a breathwork and meditation teacher, I help you stay present and grounded without carrying everything home.

You keep growing afterwards

Before our two days, we meet on a one-on-one video call. Afterwards, you continue with coaching calls, become part of the Seienstyle community and keep lifetime access to The Professional Loctician Online Course.

So, is in-person loctician training in Connecticut right for you?

It may be, if you want to build a practice that fits your nature from the very beginning, using a gentle, product-free method you can rely on for decades.
