The locticians I see undercharging most often are the ones who are most uncomfortable with their own value. They set a low price because a fair one feels presumptuous. Then they work twice as many hours to make a living, burn out twice as fast, and attract clients who are shopping for price rather than craft.

My name is Ann-Marie Christell, and I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years. I teach my students to charge what their work is actually worth, based on the skill behind it and the transformation they are holding space for, and to hold that price calmly.

Learning the craft and the business

The Professional Loctician In-Person Training is a two-day, one-on-one training. I travel to you, wherever you are in Iowa, and we work side by side on live hair models.

You choose the services you want to master before we meet. The options include dreadlocks on natural hair, dreadlocks with extensions, maintenance, mermaid dreadlocks, synthetic dreadlocks and more. Alongside the technique, we talk about your pricing, your hours, the rules of your space and how to attract the clients you most want to work with.

The method underneath it all

The Seienstyle process works on every hair texture, uses no products, and is gentle on your hands and your client's scalp. Dreadlocks made this way begin to mature within two to three months, so your clients love their hair from the very first day. That is one of the best foundations a business can have.

We also talk about being present with clients through long appointments and looking after your own body and energy.
