Being a loctician is one of the most creative professions I know. Every client is different. Every head of hair is different. Every set of dreadlocks you make is a one-of-a-kind piece of work that will live on someone's body for years, and become part of how they are seen, by themselves and by the world.

My name is Ann-Marie Christell, and I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years. I still feel that creative thrill with every new client.

Why Louisiana

Louisiana has one of the richest cultures in North America, full of music, art, food and self-expression. From New Orleans and Baton Rouge to Lafayette, Shreveport and the bayou towns, it is home to people of many backgrounds and every hair texture you can imagine.

The warm, humid climate also makes a product-free method especially valuable. Dreadlocks made without wax or heavy products stay light and clean, and do not turn sticky in the heat.

Two days, one-on-one

The Professional Loctician In-Person Training is a two-day, one-on-one training. I travel to you, wherever you are in Louisiana, and we work together on live hair models.

Before we meet, you choose what you want to focus on. The options include dreadlocks on natural hair, dreadlocks with extensions, maintenance, synthetic dreadlocks and mermaid dreadlocks, which let you play with curls and colour, and more. The training follows your goals and your experience level.

The Seienstyle process

You learn a method that works on every hair texture, from fine, straight hair to tight coils, so you never need to turn anyone away. It uses no products. Its gentle crochet technique protects your hands and your client's scalp. And dreadlocks begin to mature within two to three months, without the awkward stage.

We also talk about holding space for clients through long appointments, protecting your body, and building a practice and a style that are truly yours.
