Real rest, real work

Most of what we call rest in modern life is not rest. Scrolling is not rest. Half-watching television while answering messages is not rest. Real rest is sitting with yourself, being in the present moment, grounding yourself in your body. And nature helps with that more than anything else I have found.

My name is Ann-Marie Christell, and I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years. After burning out, I learned that this work can only be sustained by a life that truly restores you. Today I live slowly in Provence, close to the seasons, and my work is better for it.

If you live in Maine and dream of becoming a loctician, I want to help you build that kind of life around your work.

Why Maine

Maine is a place of rocky coastline, pine forests, lakes and quiet towns. From Portland and Bangor to the coastal villages and the North Woods, many people there live close to nature and value a slower, simpler way of life.

There are people in Maine who have been dreaming of dreadlocks for years and want them made with care, without products, in a way that feels natural. A loctician who works slowly and holistically fits beautifully there.

I come to you

The Professional Loctician In-Person Training is a two-day, one-on-one training. I travel to you, wherever you are in Maine, and we work side by side on live hair models.

You choose the services you most want to master before we meet. The options include dreadlocks on natural hair, dreadlocks with extensions, maintenance, mermaid dreadlocks, synthetic dreadlocks and more. The training is shaped entirely around you.

A slow, holistic method

The Seienstyle process is inclusive across every hair texture and uses no wax, no gel and no residue. Its gentle crochet technique protects your hands and your client's scalp. Because it works with the hair's natural intelligence, dreadlocks begin to mature within two to three months.

We also talk about the rhythm of your practice, how to rest between clients, how to protect your nervous system, and, as a breathwork and meditation teacher, how to stay present with clients without carrying their stories home.

Support afterwards

Before our two days, we meet on a one-on-one video call. Afterwards, you continue with coaching calls, join the Seienstyle community and keep lifetime access to The Professional Loctician Online Course.

So, is in-person loctician training in Maine right for you?

It may be, if you want to learn this craft in a slow, holistic way and build a practice that leaves room for the rest of your life.

If you would like to talk, email me at [email protected]. Tell me a little about yourself and where you are in Maine, and we can set up a video call to see whether we are a good match.

With love,

Ann-Marie
