Loctician Training in Melbourne: Hands-On Dreadlock Training With the Seienstyle Process
Oct 20, 2023By Ann-Marie Christell, Seienstyle
A practice with your own signature
Every loctician eventually develops their own way of working. The space they create, the music or silence in the room, the kind of clients they attract, the services they love most. That signature is what makes clients choose you and keep coming back for years.
My name is Ann-Marie Christell, and I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years. I believe the best practices are built deliberately, around who you really are, rather than copied from someone else. In my training, we work on both: a solid technique, and a practice that is unmistakably yours.
Why Melbourne
Melbourne is a city of laneways, street art, music, coffee and creative people, from Fitzroy, Collingwood and Brunswick to St Kilda, Footscray and the suburbs beyond. It is a place where personal style and self-expression are part of daily life.
There are many people in Melbourne who have been dreaming of their dreadlocks for years. They want dreadlocks that feel personal, made by someone with real skill and their own creative eye.
What our two days together look like
Before we meet, we have a one-on-one video call to understand your experience and your vision. You choose your focus from dreadlocks on natural hair, dreadlocks with extensions, maintenance, mermaid dreadlocks, synthetic dreadlocks and more.
Then I come to you in Melbourne, and we work side by side on live hair models for two days. Between the hands-on work, we talk about the practice you want to build: your space, your style, the clients you want to attract, your boundaries, and how to price your work fairly.
Frequently asked questions
Can I develop my own style with this method? Yes. The Seienstyle process gives you a strong foundation, and every set of dreadlocks you make is a one-of-a-kind piece of work.
What makes the method different? It works on every hair texture, uses no products, is gentle on your hands and your client's scalp, and helps dreadlocks begin to mature within two to three months.
Do I need a salon to start? No. Many locticians begin at home or in a rented space and grow from there.
What support continues afterwards? Coaching calls, the Seienstyle community, and lifetime access to The Professional Loctician Online Course.
Retreats in Australia
I am also planning basic and advanced loctician retreats in Australia in 2027. If you would like to hear about them once they are confirmed, just mention it when you email me.
So, is in-person loctician training in Melbourne right for you?
It may be, if you want to learn a gentle, product-free craft and build a practice with your own signature.

If you would like to talk, email me at [email protected]. Tell me a little about yourself and where you are in Melbourne, and we can set up a video call to see whether we are a good match.
