Many people put off becoming a loctician because they think they need a salon, a lease and a lot of equipment first. They do not.

My name is Ann-Marie Christell, and I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years. You can start working from home, with a comfortable chair, a mannequin head to practise on and a small kit of good tools. Then you let your practice grow step by step, as your skills and your client list grow.

Why Nebraska

Nebraska is a state of wide prairies and friendly communities, with Omaha and Lincoln at its heart and towns like Grand Island and Kearney across the plains. People there often value hard work, honesty and relationships that last.

There are people in Nebraska who have been dreaming of their dreadlocks for years, and many of them may not have a skilled loctician close by. Starting a calm, home-based practice there can meet a real need and grow beautifully through word of mouth.

Learning the craft, and how to begin

The Professional Loctician In-Person Training is a two-day, one-on-one training. I travel to you, wherever you are in Nebraska, and we work side by side on live hair models.

You choose the services you want to master before we meet. The options include dreadlocks on natural hair, dreadlocks with extensions, maintenance, mermaid dreadlocks, synthetic dreadlocks and more. We also talk about how to set up your first workspace, which tools are worth investing in, how to price your work fairly, and how to protect your home life if you work from home.

The Seienstyle process

The method you learn is inclusive across every hair texture, completely product-free, and gentle on your hands and your client's scalp. Dreadlocks begin to mature within two to three months, so your very first clients can love their hair from day one.

We also talk about being present with clients through long appointments, and caring for your body so you can do this for decades.
