Listening without fixing

When someone shares something hard, most of us immediately want to help. We offer advice, reassurance or a solution. But most of the time, the person does not need our solution. They need to be heard by someone who receives what they say without flinching, judging or redirecting.

My name is Ann-Marie Christell, and I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years. In my salon, clients often share things they have never told anyone. I have learned that if you can simply listen, fully and calmly, you can be more helpful than almost anyone else in their life.

Why New Mexico

New Mexico is a land of high desert, vast skies and deep cultural roots. Places like Santa Fe and Taos have long drawn artists, healers and people searching for something more meaningful, and from Albuquerque to Las Cruces there are people of many backgrounds and traditions.

There are people in New Mexico who have been dreaming of their dreadlocks for years. When they finally sit in a loctician's chair, they often bring much more than their hair. They deserve someone who can hold all of it with care.

Two days together

The Professional Loctician In-Person Training is a two-day, one-on-one training. I travel to you, wherever you are in New Mexico, and we work side by side on live hair models.

You choose the services you most want to master. The options include dreadlocks on natural hair, dreadlocks with extensions, maintenance, mermaid dreadlocks, synthetic dreadlocks and more. Alongside the technique, we practise presence: holding silence, listening without rehearsing your answer, and feeling what is in the room without taking it home.

The Seienstyle process

The method is inclusive across every hair texture, completely product-free, and gentle on your hands and your client's scalp. Dreadlocks begin to mature within two to three months.

As a breathwork and meditation teacher, I weave simple grounding practices into the training, so you have somewhere to return to when something heavy enters the room.
