Loctician Training in North Carolina: Hands-On Dreadlock Training With the Seienstyle Process
Jun 17, 2023By Ann-Marie Christell, Seienstyle
Breath as a place to return to
When a client begins to cry in my chair, or something heavy suddenly enters the room, I have a place to return to. My breath.
My name is Ann-Marie Christell, and I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years. After my burnout, I trained formally in breathwork and meditation. Breathwork taught me to regulate my own nervous system in real time, to stay grounded without armouring up. Meditation taught me to be with someone without needing to do anything at all.
Today these practices are woven into how I train locticians, because I believe you cannot do this work for thirty years without something like them. If you live in North Carolina and feel drawn to this work, I would love to share them with you.
Why North Carolina
North Carolina stretches from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Atlantic coast. Asheville in the mountains has long attracted artists, healers and people seeking a more conscious way of life, while cities like Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham and Wilmington are full of creativity and growth.
There are people across the state who have been dreaming of their dreadlocks for years. Many of them want a loctician who works holistically, without products, and who can hold the deeper moment that comes with this kind of change.
Two days, one-on-one
The Professional Loctician In-Person Training is a two-day, one-on-one training. I travel to you, wherever you are in North Carolina, and we work side by side on live hair models.
You choose the services you most want to learn. The options include dreadlocks on natural hair, dreadlocks with extensions, maintenance, mermaid dreadlocks, synthetic dreadlocks and more. Throughout the two days, we also practise the inner skills that keep this work sustainable: presence, listening, holding silence and releasing what is not yours.
The Seienstyle process
The method is holistic and inclusive across every hair texture. It uses no wax, no gel and no residue. Its gentle crochet technique protects your hands and your client's scalp, and dreadlocks begin to mature within two to three months.
We also talk about posture and tools, about the rhythm of your days, and about building a practice that fits your nature.
Support afterwards
Before our two days, we meet on a one-on-one video call. Afterwards, you continue with coaching calls, join the Seienstyle community and keep lifetime access to The Professional Loctician Online Course.
So, is in-person loctician training in North Carolina right for you?
It may be, if you want to learn a gentle, holistic craft and the practices that help you stay grounded while you hold space for others.
