Loctician Training in Rhode Island: Hands-On Dreadlock Training With the Seienstyle Process
Jul 04, 2023By Ann-Marie Christell, Seienstyle
Living slowly is a structure, not a vibe
Most of the working world assumes that more is better. More clients, more hours, more days. For locticians, this is almost never true. Our work is physically demanding, emotionally present and creative, and there is a real limit to how much of it any one person can do well.
My name is Ann-Marie Christell, and I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years. Today I work long, full days, often twelve hours, but I space them out with real rest and other work in between. I take proper time off each year, and my clients book around it. The slow life I live is not a mood. It is built into the structure of my week, my month and my year.
If you live in Rhode Island and dream of becoming a loctician, I want to help you design that kind of rhythm from the start.
Why Rhode Island
Rhode Island may be the smallest state, but it holds a lot: the coastline and beaches, sailing towns like Newport, and the creative energy of Providence, home to artists, designers and makers.
There are people there who have been dreaming of their dreadlocks for years. And because the state is compact, a loctician based anywhere in Rhode Island can easily serve clients from across the state and beyond.
The training
The Professional Loctician In-Person Training is a two-day, one-on-one training. I travel to you in Rhode Island, and we work side by side on live hair models.
You choose the services you want to master before we meet. The options include dreadlocks on natural hair, dreadlocks with extensions, maintenance, mermaid dreadlocks, synthetic dreadlocks and more. Alongside the hands-on work, we talk about your rhythm: how many days you want to work, how long your appointments are, how much space you leave between clients, and when you truly rest.
The Seienstyle process
The method you learn is inclusive across every hair texture, completely product-free, and gentle on your hands and your client's scalp. Dreadlocks begin to mature within two to three months.
We also talk about posture and tools, being present with clients, and setting fair prices so your rhythm can support you.
Support afterwards
Before our two days, we meet on a one-on-one video call. Afterwards, you continue with coaching calls, join the Seienstyle community and keep lifetime access to The Professional Loctician Online Course.
So, is in-person loctician training in Rhode Island right for you?
It may be, if you want to learn a gentle craft and build a working life with room to breathe.
