Start with who you are

Before you decide where to work, you need to decide how you want to work, and that begins with knowing yourself.

Are you energised by being around lots of people, or does too much social input drain you? Do you want a public salon with walk-in visibility, or a private space clients come to find? Do you want to stay in one place, or travel? How many hours a day can you truly be present, not just survive?

My name is Ann-Marie Christell, and I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years. These questions are foundational, and almost no one asks them before starting a business. That is why so many businesses end up looking nothing like what their owners wanted. If you live in Virginia and dream of becoming a loctician, I want to help you answer them first.

Why Virginia

Virginia stretches from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Atlantic coast, with cities like Richmond, Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Charlottesville, and busy communities close to Washington, D.C. It is home to people of every background and every hair texture.

There are people across Virginia who have been dreaming of their dreadlocks for years. Whether you build a calm home studio in the mountains or a private practice near a city, there is room for a loctician who works with care.

The training

The Professional Loctician In-Person Training is a two-day, one-on-one training. I travel to you, wherever you are in Virginia, and we work side by side on live hair models.

You choose your focus before we meet. The options include dreadlocks on natural hair, dreadlocks with extensions, maintenance, mermaid dreadlocks, synthetic dreadlocks and more. Alongside the hands-on work, we look at your nature and your goals, and shape a practice around them.

The Seienstyle process

The method you learn is inclusive across every hair texture, completely product-free, and gentle on your hands and your client's scalp. Dreadlocks begin to mature within two to three months.

We also talk about pricing, boundaries and the inner work of holding space for clients through long appointments.

Support afterwards

Before our two days, we meet on a one-on-one video call. Afterwards, you continue with coaching calls, join the Seienstyle community and keep lifetime access to The Professional Loctician Online Course.

So, is in-person loctician training in Virginia right for you?

It may be, if you want to learn a gentle, product-free method and build a practice that matches who you really are.

If you would like to talk, email me at [email protected]. Tell me a little about yourself and where you are in Virginia, and we can set up a video call to see whether we are a good match.

With love,

Ann-Marie
