Fed by the same encounter that tires you

If you become a loctician believing the job is only to make beautiful dreadlocks, you will be a technician. Possibly a good one. But you may be exhausted within a few years without understanding why, because you will be doing only half the work.

If you understand that the job is to hold space for a person while they cross a threshold in their life, and that the dreadlocks are how you do that, something changes. The exhaustion that breaks other locticians does not break you in the same way, because you are being fed by the same encounter that tires you.

My name is Ann-Marie Christell, and I have been a professional loctician for over 26 years. If you live in West Virginia and feel drawn to this deeper way of working, I would love to teach you.

Why West Virginia

West Virginia is a state of mountains, rivers, forests and close communities, from Charleston and Morgantown to Huntington, Wheeling and the small towns in the hollows and hills. Many people there live close to nature and hold deep ties to their home.

There are people in West Virginia who have been dreaming of dreadlocks for years, and who may not have a skilled loctician nearby. Someone who works with care, and who truly sees the person in the chair, can mean a great deal.

Two days together

The Professional Loctician In-Person Training is a two-day, one-on-one training. I travel to you, wherever you are in West Virginia, and we work side by side on live hair models.

You choose the services you most want to learn. The options include dreadlocks on natural hair, dreadlocks with extensions, maintenance, mermaid dreadlocks, synthetic dreadlocks and more. Alongside the technique, we practise the inner side of the work: presence, listening and holding steady when something heavy comes up.

The Seienstyle process

The method is inclusive across every hair texture, completely product-free, and gentle on your hands and your client's scalp. Dreadlocks begin to mature within two to three months.

As a breathwork and meditation teacher, I also share practices that help you come back to yourself between clients, so you stay open without becoming depleted.

Support afterwards

Before our two days, we meet on a one-on-one video call. Afterwards, you continue with coaching calls, join the Seienstyle community and keep lifetime access to The Professional Loctician Online Course.

So, is in-person loctician training in West Virginia right for you?

It may be, if you want work that feeds you as much as it asks of you, and want to learn both the craft and the presence it requires.

Ann-Marie
