What Do You Learn on a 2-Day Loctician Course in Australia?

Two days. Is that really enough to learn to make dreadlocks?

It is a fair question, and I want to answer it honestly. Two days on their own are not enough. But two days are not where the learning starts, and not where it ends. In this post I will walk you through what happens before, during and after The Professional Loctician In-Person Training, the way I run it for students in Australia.

Before we meet

When you sign up, you get immediate access to The Professional Loctician Online Course. That is where you learn the foundation: the technique, the tools, posture, hygiene and how the hair behaves. You practise on a practice head at your own pace.

Then we have a personal video call. I want to see where you are, hear what you dream of, and make sure the foundation is in place. That way we don't spend our precious days together on basics you can learn at home.

We also plan the practical side together: where in your state capital we will work, and which hair models you will bring.

During the two days

I come to you in the capital of your state or territory. We work side by side on real hair models, one each day, for a full working day.

You choose what matters most to you. It could be:

  • dreadlocks on natural hair
  • dreadlocks with extensions
  • maintenance of existing dreadlocks
  • mermaid dreadlocks
  • synthetic dreadlocks

I watch your hands, your grip, your posture and the way you meet your hair model. I correct small things before they become habits. And because it is one-to-one, every minute is about you.

We also talk about the parts of the job that no video can teach you: how to hold space when someone starts to share something personal, how to pace a long day, how to rest between clients.

During the training I take photos and video of you while you work. You go home with a library of content you can use to show the world your work from day one.

After the two days

This is where many courses stop. For me, it is where the next part begins.

  • 5 one-to-one video coaching calls with me, when you need them.
  • Our private community, where you share your work and get guidance.
  • Lifetime access to The Professional Loctician Online Course and 6 bonus courses, including synthetic dreadlocks, dreadlock decoration, social media and building your website.
  • 2 days in the salon with me every year after the training.
  • A path to certification. You complete two hair models and a practice head on your own, and I review your work before you can become a certified loctician through Seienstyle.

What the training is not

It is not a Certificate III in Hairdressing, and it doesn't replace any qualification your state may require. My training teaches you the craft and how to build a practice. Read more in Do You Need to Be a Qualified Hairdresser to Make Dreadlocks in Australia?

So, is two days enough?

Two days with me are enough to set the right foundation in your hands. The confidence comes afterwards, through practice, with me alongside you through the coaching calls and the community. That is the honest answer.

The training costs $4,599 USD. If you want to talk about payment options, send me an email.

Do you have questions about the two days? Send me an email at [email protected]. I will answer honestly, even if I think the time is not right for you yet.

With love,
Ann-Marie
