How can I prepare my hair for dreadlocks?

The lady luna: “Any advice on preparing for dreads, like preparing your scalp if you are prone to dandruff? I’ve also been trying to find the perfect shampoo. I know everyone’s hair reacts differently, but what’s your favorite?

Well, what you should start to do if you know that you are getting dreadlocks done is to stop using conditioner in your hair. It’s really important because it will be easier for the dreadlock maker or yourself if you’re making the dreadlocks yourself, to actually do the dreadlocks on your hair if it’s not too fine and silky. You’re probably going to feel that it’s a bit weird in the beginning, but don’t worry, you will get it after a while. Also, try to not wash your hair as often because when you have dreadlocks, we recommend that you only wash it – your hair about once a week. A lot of dread-heads feel that their scalp changes, both when they start to make dreadlocks in the beginning and also when the weather is changing.

Here in Sweden, when it comes from summer, and the fall starts, and you feel the climate change.

A lot of people get really, really dry in their scalp and it starts to get really, really itchy. Also, I notice that I get itchy on my body as well.

One thing that a lot of people don’t know when it comes to dry scalp is that it has a lot to do with how much water you have inside of your body. It can be a sign of dehydration, if you have a really, really itchy scalp.

So, number one: start to drink a lot of water, so you will keep yourself moist in the body.

Someting that has come to my notice on the internet is that alot of dreadlock pictures of people are floting around and are beeing posted everywere. It ends up with no one knowing who are in these pics and also people has no respect for publishing dreadheads pictures.

After working with dreadheads for over 16 years I know that every dreadhead that Ive meet over the years have their own dread story to tell and it's a shame no one is sharing this.
